2026 Employee of the Year and Quarterly Award Recipients
Wayne County recently celebrated employees who have gone above and beyond in service to our organization and community, recognizing Employee of the Quarter recipients from the past year.
The Employee of the Quarter program gives employees and supervisors an opportunity to recognize coworkers who demonstrate exceptional service, leadership, teamwork, and dedication in their roles. This year’s recipients represent departments from across Wayne County Government and the wide range of services County employees provide each day.
As part of the celebration, Wayne County also announced Chris Barnes, 911 Director, as the 2026 Employee of the Year.
Barnes was recognized for his commitment to Wayne County 911 and, especially, his dedication to the employees he leads. Those who nominated him described him as reliable, helpful, and always looking for ways to improve the department and support his team.
“Chris is all in when it comes to 911. He’s reliable, helpful, and always looking for ways to make things better,” one nomination stated.
Another highlighted the impact of his leadership and mentorship: “He shows up for his staff at every step. Chris brings incredible mentorship to this county.”
Wayne County congratulates all of this year’s Employee of the Quarter recipients and thanks them for their continued commitment to serving our residents and supporting their fellow employees.
