Jordanian FM, US Secretary Hold Talks on Rising Regional Tensions

(MENAFN) Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Jordan, Ayman Safadi, spoke on Saturday with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio regarding the escalating situation in the Middle East, according to reports.

During the phone call, the two officials reviewed recent developments, including Iranian attacks in the region. Rubio reaffirmed Washington’s support for Jordan, emphasizing US solidarity in confronting Iranian strikes and backing the measures the Kingdom has taken to protect its citizens and maintain national security.

Safadi condemned what he described as "unjustified" Iranian attacks targeting Jordan and other Arab nations, stressing that the Kingdom would take “all necessary and available steps to protect its citizens and defend its security, stability and sovereignty.”

He also expressed gratitude for US support while highlighting the importance of intensified efforts to strengthen regional stability. Safadi underscored that diplomacy remains the only viable path for resolving crises and reducing tensions, as stated by reports.
