US Embassy in Jordan Evacuates It’s Employs Over Security Threat
In a statement shared on the social media platform X, the embassy said, “Out of an abundance of caution, all personnel at the U.S. Embassy have temporarily departed the Embassy compound due to a threat.”
Jordan’s Public Security Directorate advised residents living near the diplomatic mission to follow precautionary measures and remain calm. Warning sirens were reported in several governorates across the country.
The evacuation occurred against the backdrop of an intensified US-Israeli military campaign against Iran that began on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of several senior Iranian figures, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and high-ranking military officials.
Tehran subsequently responded with drone and missile strikes aimed at Israel and Gulf states hosting US military assets.
